Acequias is a small village situated about 2 miles from the main road between Granada and the coast. It is not shown on all maps, but is approximately half way down the N323 between Durcal and Lecrin, with the Sierra Nevada mountains behind, Orgiva, las Alpujarras, Granada, and the coast all within a 30 min drive, and with an excellent road network. The village is an excellent base for exploring this unspoilt area of Spain. Acequias does not have any Bars or shops for which we are grateful, as this always increases the amount of traffic and noise, but all facilities are available in the surrounding villages.
Our house is situated at the top of the village, a short distance away from the centre; there is no passing traffic to disturb the peace. You can get your car to the door for unloading, and parking is available in the community centre about 50 yds away. The village does get a daily supply of grocery vans and the Bread man comes to the community centre at about 1pm.
Casa Eras is a small terrace house on three floors. The ground floor has a double bedroom with a large wardrobe, Oil filled radiator and a view of the olive groves, a shower room with toilet and sink, and the entrance hall and staircase to the 1st floor. This floor houses the lounge and kitchen areas, the kitchen was newly installed for 2002 and comprises fitted kitchen units, sink, hob, Microwave grill, fridge, and washing machine, with a breakfast bar for dining. Cooking and hot water is provided by gas. The lounge area is comfortably furnished and has seating for 5, with a satellite television system to receive BBC channels and a radio cassette. There are number of locally based books and maps for your use and a few novels, which if you want to exchange with one of your own we don't mind as long as we don't end up with all the grotty ones. The first floor has a small balcony with further views of the olive grove and the village. There is a wood-burning stove and fan heater for use in the wintertime. The 2nd floor comprises the second bedroom with twin beds and double wardrobe, oil filled radiator, and a cupboard for the iron and ironing board if you really need them. You are on holiday! There is also a toilet and washbasin on this floor, and access to the roof terrace with views over the Olive trees, the village, the Lecrin Valley, and to the mountains beyond. The terrace faces southwest so gets the sun from early morning till it sets over the mountains. and is furnished with a table and reclining chairs
